My fiance and I came to Tasmania in 2013 with no goals in mind other than a quick stay. The days turned to years and my fiance became my wife, our family has grown and we now call home in what is the most beautiful place on Earth. Rolling fields, soaring mountains, plentiful wildlife; this is everything that a city boy turned country boy could ever ask for.

Blackwood Park is an established farm property with roots back to the first European settlers to this part of the world. Boasting historic cottages constructed from convict quarried stone, spectacular views of the beautiful surrounds, and easy access to native wildlife, the Mole Creek caves, Cradle Mountain, the Walls of Jerusalem, and dozens of short and medium walks; Blackwood Park Cottages is an excellent hub from which to operate as you explore the region.
The property also offers an extensive farm stay experience with sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, and alpacas as well as optional farm tours and animal feeding tours for guests willing to get up and personal with the animals. For guests lucky enough to be travelling shortly after lambing and kidding season begins there are also baby goats and baby lambs that need to be bottle fed and we are happy to share that experience when it is available.

The Mole Creek area is a great central hub for access to the entire region. Easy access to Cradle Mountain, the Walls of Jerusalem, and a plethora of short and medium walks including the Alum Cliffs national park walk a mere 800m from our front gate with stunning views over a deep gorge and easy sighting of peregrine falcons, tawny frog-mouths and other sights such as wedge-tail eagles for the bird lovers.
The Mole Creek Caves are stunning with several hundred different caves through the wider area. There are 2 main guided caves that are available every day of the year and a range of self guided caves are available for the more adventurous traveler.
Other options such as local wineries, black truffle tours, salmon, hazelnut, raspberry and other farms and lots of small and quirky cafes and local breweries round out the offerings to satisfy those seeking a less physical experience or simply needing a break from all the hiking. There is something for everyone out here.
