Only 1 hour 40 mins from Melbourne, Walnut cottage is an authentic, fully restored 1890s early-settler cottage nestled among 500 organic avocado, fruit & nut trees providing a tranquil and truly unique experience. From the moment you enter this charming, light-filled cottage with views of the lush rolling hills from every window, you will be truly enchanted.
Private and secluded, the cottage is accessed by it's own driveway and is surrounded by a rose garden with rose arbour and is beautifully refurbished with quality antiques and fine linen, a wood fire and air-conditioning. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, full-sized fridge, a large pantry, and laundry. There is also undercover access from the carport at the rear door.
Wander among the trees and spring fed dams and sample produce in season while hand feeding our friendly geese, or curl up in front of the wood fire with a book from our collection, or alternatively, sip champagne on our lovely deck at sunset amid the myriad birds, frogs and resident koalas.
Both my wife and I appreciate the lifestyle difference of living close to nature. Purchasing Gippsland Food Forest's with its 500 fruit and nut trees was the right move for us. We love to welcome guests and show them our unique and special property, but also are respectful of their privacy.
A comfortable two hour drive from Tullamarine airport, we are the gateway to the 'Prom Country' - home to beautiful beaches, walking tracks and cliff top drives, Southern wine trails, national parks, Farmers' Markets, and the charming, historic towns of Loch, Mirboo North, Koonwarra, Fish Creek, Foster, Meeniyan & Toora - all equipped with a plethora of cafes, antique & local produce shops, and art galleries of local art & artisan jewellery, and wine trails....
From Walnut Cottage, turn left and head high up into lush rolling hills, past the 1890's Early Scott's Pioneer Chapel, (ideal for vintage weddings, with the historic Mardan Hall as reception)...and on to the famous, tourist 'Grand Ridge Road' to explore Victoria's finest examples of cool temperate rain forests - Mt Worth & Tarra Bulga National Parks, with their towering tree ferns, cool streams & waterfalls....or turn right & head down to the lovely inlet & surf beaches of Inverloch (30 mins) Walkerville, Sandy Point, Waratah Bay & Cape Liptrap Lighthouse, or to Phillip Island & the renown fairy penguin parade. World-famous Wilson's Promontary is an easy and pleasant hour's drive, with pristine beaches and lovely walks.
