Ellie's Cottages are situated right in the heart of Stanley at 8 Church Street, only a short stroll from the lovely cafes, restaurants, breakfast bars, quaint shops and galleries, the beaches, golf course and the iconic NUT (all within 20 to 500 metres). We offer our guests a choice of either our lovely Spa Cottage featuring a double corner hydrotherapy massage spa, or our Studio Apartment. Both have top quality beds and linen, and private off street parking right beside the accommodation. The Studio has a private courtyard looking up toward the Nut chairlift, and the Spa Cottage has a private terrace overlooking the township of Stanley. Both have reverse cycle air conditioners / heat pumps. I love to make my guests feel welcome with fresh fruit, fresh Tasmanian milk, chocolates and plenty of teas, coffees, biscuits etc provided. The Spa Cottage also includes generous continental breakfast provisions. I provide soft plush towels, linen and bathrobes, as well as quality toiletries for guests convenience, and a good selection of DVD's. If guests wish to view the little penguins during their stay there is a new viewing platform at the base of the Nut with special lighting.
I have owned and operated Ellie's Cottages since 2004. We are a local family who absolutely love Stanley and take great pride in offering our guests lovely clean, quality accommodation right in the heart of the township, with exceptionally comfortable beds made up with top quality bedding.
My husband and I also own a Murray Grey beef cattle stud, we enjoy walking (we have an energetic little Jack Russell who loves her walks each day), we love gardening and growing our own vegetables.
My husband is a 7th generation to Stanley, with his ancestors coming out to Tasmania as farmers, and settling in Stanley.
Stanley is a beautiful historic seaside village, which was settled in 1826, on the lush North West Coast of Tasmania. Stanley is predominately a fishing village set out 7km into the sea, renowned for its delicious fresh seafood, succulent locally reared beef and lamb and fine Tasmanian wines. Beautiful quaint cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries dot the street, and of course the icon of Stanley, the Nut, a 152 metre high monolith, with the township nestled at its base, has a chairlift to the summit, with absolutely breathtaking views.
The clean sandy beaches, clear pristine ocean and gorgeous sunsets and sunrises are just another of Stanley's features.
Highfield House, an historic homestead on the hill overlooking Stanley, is a must see, with its many outbuildings and beautiful surroundings. This is the place of choice for many couples to be married, as there is also a quaint chapel on site, and of course the spectacular Nut and ocean as the backdrop.
Little Penguins make their homes amongst the rocks at the base of the Nut, and there is a seal colony just off the coast of Stanley, with cruises operating most of the year.
Stanley is a magic location not to be missed.
