French Island is off the grid, off the beaten track, but readily accessible from Melbourne. It is a place like no other. Minutes from the beach, set among national park, our 75 acre property is the perfect place to explore, enjoy and unwind. See the wildlife, have a swim, explore our magical forest, visit the national park; or just relax around the fire-pit and gaze at the stars. Our guesthouse is a freestanding cottage, with (two) separate queen-sized bedrooms, each with a private bathroom/toilet, making it ideal for couples or small groups. Comes with a well appointed (common) lounge/kitchen. We are available on site, to help make your stay easy and enjoyable, but are happy for you to relax and do your own thing. Note: French Island is a small isolated community, with just a general store, so guests generally bring their own food.
Mylene is a marriage celebrant with extensive experience in hospitality industries. Alan was a comedian, now a writer / poet. He drives the tractor. We are passionate about peaceful living, re-vegetating our land with indigenous plants, and sharing the serenity of discovering this special place with our guests. We are available onsite, to help make your stay easy and enjoyable, but are happy for you to relax and do your own thing.
French Island is a quiet and secluded destination, not far from the city. Our cottage provides sustainable, luxury accommodation, close to the beach, set amongst national park, rich with bird life, koalas and echidnas. Our guests love the serenity and the environment. Just an hour's drive from Melbourne, but only accessible by boat, the adventure begins the moment you cast-off from the mainland. This is a large island so we suggest bringing your car to get around. The barge will pick you up from Corinella, bookings are essential. Search for SOFI barge on the internet. French Island is sparsely populated with a licensed general store, a winery, and that’s about it. What you get in abundance is peace and quiet in a unique and beautiful setting. 70% of the island is national park, including RAMSAR wetlands. It’s a great location for rambling walks, bike riding, swimming and relaxing. Guided island tours are available by arrangement.
