At the fringes of the familiar, you'll discover Bruny Island. For over 40,000 years, people have traversed its terrain, and now, it's your chance. This island, offers its treasures to those who embrace a leisurely pace, those who pause to “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea and drink the wild air.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson. Our Peaceful shack is just the place to relax, rewind and reset.
We are excited to welcome you to our shack. We strive to make it warm and welcoming for our guests those there is nothing else to do but relax and enjoy all that makes Bruny so rejuvenating.
Be sure to keep you eyes open for the Bruny Island wildlife. A special treat is one of the last thriving habitats of the Eastern Quoll, and you may see them by just sitting quietly on the deck after dark and occasionally just wondering around in the daytime. You can also see Bennetts wallabies, Tasmanian pademelons and Brushtail possums all over the island. While you won’t find any Tasmanian devils or wombats on Bruny you might find an echidna beside the walking track or digging up the garden. And if you look really closely, you just might also spot an Eastern barred bandicoot, Tasmanian bettong, Dusky Antechinus or a little Pygmy possum. There's plenty of birdlife too and dont forget those pesky seals that are occasionally just sitting on the rocks on the northern end of the beach.
Out on the Friars (rocky outcrop forming Bruny’s southernmost part) are hundreds of Australian fur seals using the rocks as a haul-out. Take a cruise to get up close to them.
