Hello! We’re Nadya & Maria — soul-sisters who left city life and moved into a 200-year-old traditional house in a small Balkan village near Gabrovo. A year ago we exchanged apartments and deadlines for mountains, river air and starry skies that feel like a planetarium above our garden. Two hills guard our home, waterfalls and forests surround it — a place where time softens and days breathe slowly. One of our joys is kitchen — we learned from best chefs. We prepare fresh breakfasts and authentic dinners, inspired by international cuisines. We cook with local products, herbs we collect, homemade jams and pickles — all these make guests feel cared for. Guests often say our house feels like a fairytale — safe, warm, grounding. Maybe because we restored it with our own hands, maybe because nature here speaks loudly and life becomes simple again. We love welcoming couples and curious travellers searching for peace, Bulgarian heritage, hiking, quiet mornings and meaningful conversations by the fire. Located on the edge of Boynovtsi village, Gabrovo, Bulgaria, and situated in a beautiful river valley with meadow and wooded mountain views – perfect for walking, cycling and bird watching – Little River Guest House welcomes you all year round. Little River Guest House is close to many places of interest including: Lyulyatsite national park, and Bulgarka Nature Park, Etara, Sokolski and Dryanovo Monasteries, Shipka, Buzludzha, and the towns of Gabrovo, Tryavna, Dryanovo and Veliko Tarnovo. Additionally, Uzanna ski resort is 15km away, making us the perfect location for a mixed activity winter getaway. We have five guest rooms, each with their own bathrooms. In the old farm house we have a romantic double room with luxury ensuite bathroom and fire place. A large double en-suite room with a beautiful view of the garden and a twin room with its own bathroom and view of the cobbled courtyard, gatehouse and wooded hillside beyond; which together make a perfect family suite. Upstairs in the Gatehouse across the courtyard we have two ensuite rooms, one double and one twin. Both rooms have dual aspect and lovely views of the meadow and the mountain. Again these make an ideal family suite or a perfect getaway for a group of friends. All room rates include breakfast. Choose from granola, fruit, yoghurt, home-made bread and preserves, as well as from a choice of cooked breakfasts. Packed lunches are available at a small additional cost. We also serve evening meals. These are set menus from the Balkans, Caucasus, North Africa and the Middle East. Choose from two, three or four courses, all served with a complementary drink. All dietary requirements are catered for, including children’s and young people, so please let us know when you book. Our large landscaped garden is a work in progress, and already has lots of areas with views of the countryside beyond. These include a wood fired hot tub, a covered terrace, fire pit, woodland walk and secret seating areas.

We are situated in Boynovtsi is a tiny mountain village near Gabrovo, home to only about 18 people, offering rare peace and authentic rural charm. It has a small chapel, three marked eco-trails with beautiful valley and hillside views, and opportunities to spot deer, foxes and hares in the wild. Within a 10-minute drive you’ll find a lake and a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Balkan Mountains. In Gabrovo there are bakeries, cafés, an English pub serving craft beer and nice restaurants.
