Your hosts Simon, Denise & Jimmy welcome you to their slice of Raro paradise and look forward to sharing it with you. We are a customer focussed company called Drewery Holdings Ltd. We own and manage Muri Retreat with a focus on providing relaxed authentic Cook Islands experiences for our guests. Hailing from New Zealand, we have been visiting the Cook Islands since 2007. We lived there from 2012 to 2015 with our children, dog Max and local adopted dog Putt. Simon worked as the school Principal of Apii Te Uki Ou and Denise was the Year 5 & 6 teacher. Simon has a passion for the ocean and is an experienced sailor, free diver and surfer who loves to share this passion with others. He also loves gardening and baking bread. Denise has a deep connection to the people and culture of the Cook Island and Rarotonga. This is the place that most feels like home to Denise from the 62 countries she has travelled to with Simon. Denise is a talented vegan cook, loves design and DIY and is a creative artist who loves to read on the beach by the lagoon. Denise has spent time in Aitutaki and plans to visit as many of the outer islands in the future. Our son Sebastian attended Te Uki Ou School, sailed, played rugby for Ngatangiaa, competed in Vaka Eva (Paddling) and spent his days barefoot and in the sea. Sebastian has spent time in Aitutaki & Atui. Seb is a chef in Auckland. Our daughter Sigourney attended Tereora College, sang and played the guitar at the Muri Night Markets, played football for Matavera, competed in Vaka Eva (paddling) and was passionate about Cook Islands culture. She spent time on Mitiaro with her dad in 2012. Sigourney is a tattoo artist. With the kids working and living away from the family home, Simon & Denise returned back to Rarotonga at the end of 2022 to live and work permanently. They both believe that Rarotonga and the Cook Islands are heaven on earth and want to share that with their guests. Join us to experience this at Muri Retreat.

Muri Retreat is an iconic property nestled in the cool foothills of Ambala Road, overlooking the Muri Lagoon, Taakokoa Island and the Pacific Ocean. It is an intimate setting with four individual apartments and colourful tropical gardens with an authentic Cook Islands vibe. Every room is designed for a relaxing and comfortable holiday, with Moko & Kaute ideal for long-stay options due to the size of the rooms and King beds. All rooms have new Sleepyhead Elegance Range Commerical beds & pillows, modern fridge\freezers with ice making, well-equipped kitchens, ceiling fans, filtered drinking water, high-pressure hot showers via gas, super comfy couches or double armchairs. Smart TVs and Bluetooth speakers are available on request and are free of charge. Indoor and outdoor dining options are part of each room, while a share Weber BBQ and fridge\freezer are available in the Activity Hut by the pool with a dining table and the ability to roast, bake and broil using the Weber system. Unlimited Wi-Fi is available with a reasonable daily surcharge. Long stays can negotiate weekly rates for working holidays or for writing that book you have always had in you. A shared laundry is onsite with free laundry powder, an ironing board, an iron and umbrellas. Each room has a covered drying area or clothes rack to place under your eve or inside while a large shared clothesline sits behind Onu at the rear of the property. Linen and towels are changed every 5th day free of charge and your hosts Simon, Denise and Jimmy are onsite every 2nd day to maintain the gardens, grounds, pool and BBQ area. Muri Retreat has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable holiday and your hosts pride themselves on high standards of cleanliness, maintenance and service to their guests.

Set in lush tropical gardens with an outdoor pool, Muri Retreat is the perfect authentic holiday hideaway! Positioned 500 metres at the end of Ambala Road, we are nestled in the cool foothills of Muri 50 metres above sea level in a private, secluded tropical location, while only a short walk to the hustle and bustle and options of Muri and surrounding villages of Rarotonga. Both Kukupa & Kaute have ocean and lagoon views, while Moko has a large patio that looks down the valley and over the ocean. Onu has its own unique outdoor tropical garden patio and ease of access to the pool. Our four self-contained apartments are fully equipped for comfort and relaxation. Each has its own private balcony or patio and unique style and charm.
