I am a old Italian lady and I have lived in Colombia for more than twenty years in this house in San Diego.
While we were traveling, with my husband, through Central and South America, we arrived in Cartagena y we decide to live there... because Cartagena? by the climate, the history, the culture, the folklore, the loveliness of the people. music, tranquility, the sea.
Pino, full of ideas and with the great desire to help young children, created the Casa Italia Fundation with this aim. He concentrated his efforts in a poor neighborhood a few kilometers from Cartagena, the Boquilla.
Established the headquarters of the Dante Alighieri of Rome in Cartagena to spread the Italian language and culture.
After my husband´s death I decided to dedicate my time to the Fundacion and purchase an educational institution from primary school to secondary school. The school is functioning and has more than 350 students.
I am proud of my school because I keep it at a very high level with qualified teachers. All salons are air conditioned. The most important thing is that we try to give good education as much for preparation and schooling as for behavior. For the past few years we have been creating a program with the Lions Club of the Cartagena that is called "educating lions" based on the values and importance of them in school and in life. I believe that only a good academic preparacion can change and improve people's lives.
Maintaining the school requires a lot of effort, as much financial as a constant presence and active participation, but you also have a lot of personal satisfactions in terms of the final results that are achieved!
I would be delighted that you come to visit my house and, if you have time,my school "Una Nueva Luz de Esperanza" that is within 10 km of Cartagena.

The SERREZUELA COLONIAL HOUSE (ex Casa Rosy) is a very cozy colonial building spread over three levels, with only five guest rooms and two apartments where my daughter and I live.
The house is a colonial red, featuring three flags from Italy, Europe, and Colombia.
The house is maintained as a normal, non-luxurious home, but with all the amenities and amenities for guests.
The entrance features its large, old, hand-carved wooden gate and three typical colonial windows with wooden latches.
I'll let you know where we're going... we're entering a colonial house in Cartagena.
On the ground floor, a living room awaits you with glass cabinets filled with old objects, a dining room with a long table over 2 meters long for guests, and at the back, a library with books in Italian and a display of local ceramics.
Continuing on, we have another living room with a television... it's a one-to-one affair... with open spaces leading to the patio. Colonial iron lanterns and antique hand-carved wooden beams accompany you throughout the house.
A small pool with a waterfall filled with tropical plants and many cacti decorates the patio.
Old objects can be admired on the walls.
A staircase leads to the 2nd floor and we find another comfortable living room with a very colorful naive painting by a local artist, three beautiful bedrooms with different layouts, a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator/freezer just for guests... A typical colonial veranda with wooden beams metaphorically encloses the second floor;Let's go up to the 3rd floor, where a spacious and panoramic rooftop terrace of over 80 square meters awaits us, with two bedrooms.

Casa Colonial Serrezuela (ex Casa Rosy) is located in the San Diego neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Cartagena, the walled city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The neighborhood maintains its authenticity with the "Sandieganos," the neighborhood's inhabitants, who live here. Despite the fact that, in recent years, many restored houses have been converted into hotels, bars, and shops, they have always maintained their architectural style and historic atmosphere.
Our house, where I have continued to live for more than twenty years, offers guests a unique and authentic experience of life in Cartagena.
The magic of San Diego, with its magical corners and historic treasures, will leave you amazed by the history, art, gastronomy, and warmth of its people. This neighborhood offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Immerse yourself in the authenticity of the past and the dynamism of the present. The CASA COLONIAL SERREZUELA is located 5 km from Cartagena Airport, a 10-minute walk away, and is close to Plaza San Diego and Fernández de Madrid Park. All tourist attractions are nearby, such as Parque De La Marina (1 km) and Cerro De La Popa (2 km), as well as San Felipe de Barajas Castle (1 km).
