Casa de Congos is nestled in the quiet, residential neighborhood of Playa Negra — just a 7–10 minute drive from the vibrant town of Puerto Viejo. This peaceful area offers a small local market, a traditional Costa Rican soda, and the popular Banana Azul restaurant. The volcanic black-sand beach is a short 5–10 minute walk (or 2-minute drive) from the house, perfect for sunrise walks or peaceful swims in the warm Caribbean waters. Playa Negra is dog-friendly and known for its natural beauty — often you’ll have the beach all to yourself in low season, while in high season you’ll find locals barbecuing, surfing, and enjoying the sun.
