São Lourenço dos Órgãos is a municipality located in the mountainous central part (Soutwest) of Santiago Island in Cape Verde. One of the main attractions in São Lourenço dos Órgãos is the Jardim Botânico Nacional Grandvaux Barbosa, the only botanical garden in Cape Verde, situated in the settlement of São Jorge. This garden houses a variety of native and exotic plant species and serves as a center for research and education. The municipality's landscape is characterized by mountains and deep valleys, with no coastline. The highest peak is Pico de Antónia, reaching an elevation of 1,392 meters, extending across the borders of São Lourenço dos Órgãos, São Salvador do Mundo, and Ribeira Grande de Santiago. The economy of São Lourenço dos Órgãos is primarily based on agriculture, including the cultivation of maize and beans, as well as livestock farming.
