The property is listed as national historic monument. It is one of the few historic wooden houses of alpine type, an architecture, which can be found only in Volary in the Czech Republic.
The history of the town Volary reaches back to the 16. century, as the cattle men from Steyr and Tyrol, who introduced the intense methods of cattle keeping in an alpine style, settled down here. Their curstoms, dresses and architecture were strongly distintct from the native inhabitants of the Sumava mountains. These farmers have built in Volary and the surrounding area their own alpine style log houses, which were characterized by putting the whole farming activity and living space under one roof – living rooms, cattle-sheds, barns and court. The town of Volary thus had for centuries an architecture, which was unique in Bohemia by the presence of log houses (built fully or partially of logs). Until now, only a couple of these unique buildings survived and Volary is the only place where you can see this building jewelry. In one of these Alpine style houses, our B&B is located.
周边信息
B&B Snezna is located near the city centre of Volary, a gateway town for Sumava mountains. In Volary you can use a public swimming pool, enjoy cannabis spa, see unique architecture of alpine style houses and then continue to discover the beautiful hikes and trails of Sumava mountains. Cycling, canoeing, swimming in Lipno reservoir, rollerblading or visiting historical towns of Prachatice, Cesky Krumlov or Passau, all these activities are on offer during the summer season. In the winter we recommend Mitterdorf ski resort on Bavarian side of the border, only 20 km from Volary.
