The leaning church tower of Thurow
The village of Thurow today has a white, probably more gray half-timbered church, this was built on the 3rd. November 1754 consecrated.
Let's look closely so that the church tower is not in the plumb and is therefore a bit crooked. The citizens love their leaning tower, their landmark of Thurow, and want the tower to remain stable but crooked. The tower is square and has a slightly offset tip with a wind sign at the top. The roof of the tower was covered with black slate, the rectangular vertical part is covered with white slate. There is a hatch towards the village.
At Christmas time a star is hung out there, of course a star made of a gentleman's hat. The half-timbered work begins at a height of about one metre. The foundation consists of field stones, followed by rows of bricks before the timbering with its distinctive K-fields begins. Each white wooden window consists of 6 squares arranged in pairs. Each individual field consists of four discs in a wooden cross. The two upper windows are slightly semicircular.
The roof of the church was re-covered with tiles.
