The village is known for its thatched Frisian houses, which blend harmoniously into the landscape. The surroundings are characterized by dune landscapes, long sandy beaches, and the Wadden Sea, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The List harbor is a central point of the village, offering a maritime atmosphere with seafood restaurants where fresh oysters and freshly caught fish are served. Ferries to the Danish island of Rømø also depart from here. The region around the List Ellenbogen, a peninsula in the north, offers pure nature between dunes and lighthouses. The beaches are ideal for swimming and walking, with the West Beach known for its surf waves. A special highlight is the moving dune, which shifts at a rate of seven meters per year.
