I am José, your host at Casa Avilés Osborne, an elegant house with more than 200 years perfectly updated that we keep as a family property and that is full of essence, history and culture as the wonderful town that welcomes it. I am fond of reading, I like the countryside, music, art (especially painting), antiques… and a good Ribera del Duero or Jerez wine with friends. I would like to share with you this historical, cultural and natural experience that is Santo Domingo de Silos, one of the world capitals of Gregorian Chant that for more than a millennium can be heard every day, between bell rings, in the prayers of the monks of the Benedictine Abbey, right in front of the house… just 10 meters away. History books and horse riding are two of my biggest hobbies since I was a child, and I spend time on vacation every year practicing them, especially in the countryside. It will be a pleasure for me to meet personally and stay at my house. So that you enjoy it as much as I do with my wife, children and friends.

This small medieval town located at the crossroads of the Camino del Cid, the Camino Castellano-Aragonés and the Ruta de la Lana, has several charming secrets that deserve to be visited. The most interesting place is the thousand-year-old Monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos, a walled enclosure famous worldwide for the Gregorian Songs of its community of monks, with a Romanesque cloister from the s. XI, which was becoming the center of life in the valley in the High Middle Ages. Located in the middle of nature, it offers many hiking and horseback routes, visiting nearby towns with charm and history, such as Covarrubias, and enjoying the wines of the area, from the Arlanza designation of origin such as "Alma Silense", the gastronomic specialties ( roast suckling pig, suckling lamb and kid) as well as Premium Gin "Silos" with 91 points in the Peñín guide. But you can also visit the Sad Hill Cemetery and the Betterville Concentration Camp, (15 minutes away both), the San Pedro de Arlanza Monastery and the San Pelayo hermitage, on the banks of the Arlanza river, (30 minutes from the house by car) and the Yecla Gorge 5 minutes away.
