Welcome to this apartment, Montana Margaret. I have nicknamed the mountain behind by this name – meaning Margaret’s Mountain, in memory of my Great Aunt Margaret who helped enable me to be here. The mountain is actually called ‘El Caballo de Bernat’ (Bernat’s horse!). This is a ground floor apartment with step-free, ramped access and a flat-floor shower making it ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The view of the Tramontana mountains from the living room patio doors is gorgeous - one I lie on the sofa and enjoy on many afternoons! The afternoon sun arrives on the decking (balcony area), but the apartment is cooler most of the day with no direct sunlight - helpful in the summer heat of Mallorca.
It is a short walk into the centre of town (the village square is around 8 minutes, the sea front similar). A well-stocked supermarket is less than 5 minutes walk away, but being on the edge of the village means it is a quiet area, away from any noisy bars or buzz of the village centre, yet close enough to be there in a short, flat walk.
The property has a shared swimming pool with the other 7 apartments in the building, and parking is always easy on the street just outside the apartment.
Hello! My name is Karen Darke, the proud owner, of the apartment, which I have called Montana Margaret. I feel incredibly fortunate to spend some of my year in Mallorca, training on my hand-bike, initially as part of the British Paralympic team. It is my home in the winter and when I am away between spring and autumn, I am happy that other people are able to enjoy using the apartment.
I first came to Mallorca on a cycling holiday many years ago, with only a tent! I fell in love with the island. The combination of dramatic mountain, cliff and coastal scenery, along with the beaches, forests, quiet country lanes and Mallorcan culture create something very unique.
I find the apartment a quiet place where I can relax and recover and enjoy the local nature, scenery and culture. I hope that you will be able to relax and enjoy the peace of the area, and have a memorable and special holiday.
If you have any comments or ideas about helping make your stay more comfortable, please let me know. If you would like to contact me then please do so.
I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do.
HAPPY HOLIDAY!
The apartment is situated in a quiet area on the edge of Puerto Pollensa, walkable to all facilities - beach, shops, doctors, gyms, swimming pool. The property has a shared swimming pool with the other 7 apartments in the building.
Puerto Pollensa, nestled in the northern reaches of Mallorca, serves as the perfect gateway to some of the island’s most breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures. Just a short drive away lies the historic town of Pollença, with its charming stone streets, bustling Sunday market, and the famed Calvari Steps—a 365-step climb leading to a hilltop chapel with sweeping views over the town and beyond. Here, visitors can soak in the island’s rich history, from its medieval architecture to the echoes of Roman and Moorish influence that still linger in its winding alleys.
For nature lovers, the dramatic Formentor Peninsula is an unmissable excursion. A winding coastal road, flanked by sheer cliffs and fragrant pine forests, leads to Cap de Formentor, where the island meets the sea in a spectacular clash of rugged rock and turquoise water. Along the way, the Mirador Es Colomer viewpoint offers panoramic vistas that are nothing short of cinematic. Those seeking a more tranquil escape can explore the idyllic beaches of Cala Formentor or Cala Sant Vicenç, where crystalline waters lap against golden sands, perfect for a day of relaxation or snorkelling. Whether chasing adventure, history, or serenity, Puerto Pollensa provides a perfect starting point for discovering Mallorca’s diverse wonders.
