The LAURI knife and handicraft factory was established in 1924. Temporarily closed down in World War II, the place was revived in the 1960s. Three historical log houses were brought from the countryside of Lapland to the city of Rovaniemi and built up to form a unique historical setting in a city that had been rebuilt from scratch after the war. Up to this day, we produce the famous LAURI items on the spot, traditional artistic items, and modern interpretations, made of reindeer antler, wood and leather. Since 2017, we transformed a part of our premises into a guesthouse. Since then, it is possible for everyone to stay overnight in a truly historical setting, discretely updated with all modern amenities.

LAURI is the only 19th century log farm house complex in Rovaniemi city centre. We offer you a genuine experience of the North in a traditional log house, combined with Nordic interior design, far away from the hectic of modern life, and yet in the heart of the city. Part of the unique experience is our own handicraft workshop: here you can see true craftsmen's work in progress and, if you like, also buy some of the most unique gifts in Rovaniemi. During the working hours we are in the the next house to yours, which is shop/workshop, so you enjoy at the same time full independence and support.
