Our four-star gite offers an idyllic countryside retreat situated on a no-through road with limited passing traffic. It's a perfect spot to relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Created with a driving holiday in mind we offer printed local driving routes and pre-designed days out, an interactive tourist map with directions to the main local tourist spots, to help guests get the most out of their holiday. The property is finished to a high specification. 1) Our large Chambre Panoramique (7m x 4m) offers a great space to relax and enjoy the spectacular views from the sofa or two arm chairs. The remote controlled blinds mean you don't even have to get out of bed to enjoy the view. 2) The Chambre Rose (5.5 x 3.6m) benefits from a large en-suite bathroom including a bath with handheld shower attachment, a 90 cm shower cubicle. 3) The lounge/diner seats four adults in comfort, with facilities including TV (French terrestrial and UK Freeview), sound bar for connecting your iPod/music player, DVD player, a range of car-themed books and DVDs. 4) The kitchen offers everything needed for self-catering with a microwave, ceramic hob, electric oven, dishwasher, filter coffee machine, kettle, large fridge/freezer. Kitchen essentials (oils, salt and pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, kitchen roll, baking paper etc) are provided. 5) The decking and lower garden is private to the gite. A dining table/chairs, 3m parasol, and sun loungers are available for al-fresco dining and relaxing. Bed linen, bath towels, hand towels, tea towels, dish cloths, toilet roll, and toiletries are provided, along with a welcome pack. The local village (20 minute walk, 2 minute drive) has a bakers, butcher, supermarket, pharmacy and other shops and a couple of restaurants. The town of Thiviers is a short drive away and has a superb weekly market and lots of community activities. There is plenty of history in the area such as the nearby town of Châlus with its links to Richard the Lionheart, and the sobering Oradour-sur-Glane World War II memorial which we would highly recommend. In addition to the superb drives available around our local roads, there are swimming lakes, caves, historic buildings, beautiful villages and châteaux to keep guests busy, including Chateau Hautefort, Grottes de Villars, Brantôme, Gorges de l'Auvezere.
