Welcome to a fresh, clean, modern bed & breakfast in a traditional French setting. Originally the winery and barrel store at Les Girauderies, the owners have just completed a full conversion of this beautiful local stone property, to provide luxury Chambres d'Hotes accommodation. The local Charentaise construction and stonework has been retained throughout yet the interior theme and style is clean, modern and extremely stylish. Choose from two large, tastefully furnished ensuite King double bedrooms: Serenity Suite (53 m2) and Tranquility (25 m2). Each has beautiful, tasteful bathrooms with Italian walk-in showers. Serenity Suite also has a feature bathtub. ​Locally-sourced buffet breakfast is included during your stay and conveniently served in the salon adjacent to each bedroom. This comfortable room is reserved exclusively for guests of Les Girauderies and includes a sitting room to use throughout your stay, complete with large comfy sofa. For guests staying two nights or longer, there's the option to upgrade breakfast to brunch (from second day onward). This provides a choice of freshly cooked hot dish supplement to the buffet breakfast, served later in the morning for those preferring a lie-in. A 3-course table d'hotes evening meal is also available if booked a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Dinner is served between 7pm - 8pm. Following table d'hotes tradition, all of our guests eat the same menu so no special dietary requirements can be catered for, including vegetarian. ​There is ample, free car parking in the grounds of Les Girauderies.

Former owners of holiday gites in nearby Mortagne for the last 13 years, they are very familiar with the local Charente area to help with any questions you might have (in French or English!). Both have hospitality industry backgrounds from the UK. But their love of France got the better of them so the family made the move to this beautiful region of south-west France. The transformation of the original wine and barrel store which is adjacent to the main house, now the Girauderies Chambres d'Hotes/B+B, has been a long and painstaking project. It was completed at the end of 2023 after a total transformation of the building ranging from local Charente-style tiled roof down to polished concrete flooring complete with underfloor heating throughout. Tim and Amanda have been heavily involved along the way with local "artisinale" stonemason and carpentry craftsmen.

Les Girauderies is the ideal bed & breakfast for a few nights away near the beautiful Atlantic coast and beaches or if you're just passing through on your way south. Or perhaps homeward bound returning north. We are located in the tiny rural hamlet of Girauderies, surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers, wheat and maize. Girauderies is near the Atlantic coast, just five minutes drive from the main Royan-Bordeaux road. 10 minutes from the harbour village port of Mortagne-sur-Gironde. We are only 25 minutes to the beaches of Meschers and then another five minutes to the lovely beaches of the Atlantic coast, St-George de Didonne and Royan. Slightly further on you will find the beaches of La Grande Cote and La Cote Sauvage. Then on to La Rochelle and the island of Ile de Re. Perfect for a day out.
