Our Gite is spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped. It is a secluded haven overlooking the river Authie and the delightful, unspoilt countryside of the Seven Valleys region of Northern France. Less than an hour from Calais, 15 minutes from the picturesque town of Montreuil-sur-Mer (Victor Hugo), 25 minutes from the medieval town of Hesdin, there are numerous opportunities to explore the colourful local markets and numerous historic sites. Lille, Paris, Arras and Amiens are all within easy reach. Wooded hillsides are topped by wide open fields, many villages offer a variety of restaurants, vast sandy beaches provide seaside fun, buzzy coastal resorts, including glamorous Le Touquet and pretty St.Vallery - both 40 minutes away, provide summer entertainment. The stunning L'Abbaye de Valloires is 10 minutes down the road, the renowned Nampont-St. Martin golf course is 5 minutes away, trout lakes abound for fishermen and the entire area is very popular with cyclists. We retired here seven years ago and absolutely love the quality of life. No traffic jams or supermarket queues, unspoilt countryside and a wealth of wildlife, friendly locals and good food, wide open spaces and uncrowded beaches, historic and sylish architecture - what more could anyone wish for! Our home is adjacent to our gite, although completely separate, we are on hand to offer any assistance you may need. As the river is so close, we are unable to accommodate young children, teenagers welcome. Please be aware that an abandoned kitten turned up on our doorstep a few months ago and has taken up residence! She is lively and curious, we will do our best to keep her away from the gite but can't make any promises! We look forward to meeting you.
