La Maison du Petit Jacques is a beautiful Maison de Maître located in the Charente-Maritime region of southwest France. With two well-appointed and spacious guest cottages, large gardens and a swimming pool, our home offers an oasis of tranquility for rest and relaxation and is also within easy driving distance of the Atlantic coast, historic towns, and cycling trails. Private and group yoga and Pilates classes are offered for a fee on-site.
We are Alastair and Renée, a British-born cycling fanatic with a passion for photography, and a California-born yoga & Pilates teacher with a diploma in Wine & Spirits. With the birth of our son in 2019, we looked for a better work/family balance than London offered us. Finding La Maison, with its tranquil countryside setting - as well as its proximity to the coast, famous wine estates and historic towns - convinced us to start a new life in France. We first opened as a B&B, only to discover that the 24/7 schedule offered us less family time than we had before we moved! In 2022, we reopened with two self-catering guest cottages, the Mirabelle and the Rose.
Roman ruins, fresh produce markets, the Atlantic coast and the city of Cognac are all within a 15-minute to an hour drive from us.
