The guest suite consists of it's own lounge, separate bedroom and ensuite shower room in our Normandy farmhouse . Breakfast is included and can either be taken in the new breakfast room or in the garden. Surrounded by our own fields and orchard, the setting is beautiful and lovely and peaceful, except for occasional sound of our cockerels calling to each other, which blends into the whole old-worldly atmosphere of the place. Guests can sit in the garden and relax with a glass of wine whilst looking over at the view and may even catch a glimpse of the various wildlife we have here: from red squirrels, and if you are lucky you can see the baby ones running along the fences and up into the trees high above, deer, hares, pine-martens, various types of hawks and we even have a magnificent barn owl that you can occasionally see perched on the fence in the early hours. Wild boar and wolves are said to roam the area in the forest a way away, rumour has it they escaped from a fire in their sanctuary at a local mansion house.
We enjoy meeting people and like to make guests feel as comfortable as possible whilst also respecting their privacy. The room is self contained and has a lounge with large TV and ensuite shower room, so guests can have peace and quiet and rest if that is what they want or go for a bike ride along the country lanes on bikes we have for their use. Or sit awhile in the grounds and admire the beautiful views. We can provide afternoon tea or light meal if required at extra cost. Continental breakfast buffet is included in the room rates and is very substantial. We have our own hens and so eggs are fresh daily. Hot breakfast can also be provided. We love antiques and like to go to the Vide Greniers (boot sales) that are ongoing in the villages around for most of the year and also enjoy visiting the local market
Just about five minutes drive from our farmhouse are some Abbey ruins that are worth a look. Saint Hilaire du Harcouet is only about 20 minutes drive from us and it holds a huge market every Wednesday and is well worth a visit. Also there you can find lots of nice places to eat. Mortain, a village about 30 minutes drive away was the site of a major 2nd World War battle in this area where lots of American soldiers lost their lives. Then there are some fabulous beaches about 45 minutes drive away and there are good places to eat near them. Mont St Michel is about an hour or so drive away and is a "must-see" for anyone who hasn't been there it is an incredible experience and a lovely day out. Domfront, about 45 minutes away has a fascinating medieval town which is interesting to walk around and also find a nice place to eat. A bit further afield Bagnoles d'Lorne is a spa-town and a major tourist attraction. It has quite a few interesting shops and lots of restaurants. In another direction is Fougeres, about an hour away, and it has a magnificent castle in the centre that is also worth seeing.
