Doussard is one of the many beautiful lakeside villages that are dotted around Lake Annecy. It has a good selection of shops and restaurants, as well as a beach, just 2km from Chalet Lomatika, and a lakeside footpath for pedestrians and cyclists. There are more shops and restaurants in Annecy itself, which is a beautiful medieval town on the edge of the lake, just 30 mins drive away. On a sunny day, choose one of the canalside restaurants and watch the world go by. There are also some delightful independent shops, three weekly produce markets, and a monthly antiques market. In the summer, try out the watersports, swim in the crystal clear lake, or enjoy a cruise across the lake. If you are staying at Chalet Lomatika in the winter, you can ski at the small resort of La Sambuy, near Seythenex, south of Lake Annecy, is less than 30 minutes drive away and has 10 pistes ranging from green to black. The Aravis stations of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Manigod are all less than an hour away, and offer 220km of superb skiing.
