The Gite is a wing of a converted barn, set in five and a half acres, 1 mile outside of Lanquais. It is very tranquil and peaceful with wonderful views. The Gite has good WiFi & both French and English TV (with some Spanish channels also available). There is a separate lounge with a private terrace where you can access the small plunge pool (2 metres x 2 metres) and enjoy the sunset or the views with a glass or wine or two! There is a large vaulted kitchen dining room, with new oak fitted kitchen, a downstairs bedroom with a brand new king size bed, with a mezzanine area above with two single beds. There is an ensuite shower room to the main bedroom. The private plunge pool has been installed (for your exclusive use) and provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the views and cool down after a perfect summers day with a glass of wine or a favourite book. A travel cot, high chair and baby bath are available if required and there are also stair gates at both top and bottom of the stairs. Well behaved pets may be accepted for a small fee, please enquire. Accessibility: From the parking area, the property can be accessed on the same level from either the external bedroom door or the kitchen door. The ground floor bedroom, shower room and kitchen /dining room are all on one level without steps. There are two steps from the kitchen to the sitting room (22cm high). From the sitting room there is level access to part of the covered terrace (where the table and chairs are). The other part of the terrace is accessed by two steps.

Lanquais is a medieval village (featured in 'The Most Beautiful Villages in the Dordogne') dominated by Chateau de Lanquais, and surrounded by beautiful countryside with numerous forest walks. Just 20 minutes from Bergerac airport, Lanquais is ideal for exploring the Dordogne with its beautiful scenery, numerous chateaux, medieval villages and towns. Within striking distance are Sarlat, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Perigueux, Cahors, the Correze and stone-age sites of the Vezere valley. Canoeing, swimming, walking, cycling, fishing and golf are all available in the local area with golf available at the prestigious Chateau Les Merles. There are numerous walking, running and cycling routes (both on and off road), and the area is perfect for motorcycling too. The medieval market town of Issigeac is also nearby with a lovely typical French market on Sunday mornings. Lanquais village has a superb, reasonably priced restaurant Les Marronnieres, which also has a friendly bar. The nearest town is Lalinde, only about a 10 minute drive for supermarket shopping, or Bergerac (20 minutes away). The owners are usually at the property and on hand for information or help needed.

There are many wonderful places to visit in the Dordogne, here are a few of our favourites: Issigeac: lovely old village, great Sunday morning market. Monpazier: beautiful Bastide (fortress) village Chateau de Biron: close to Monpazier Domme: stunning views for miles around, also has a tiny train through the village that children would love Sarlat la Caneda: medieval town, good for shopping, very French and pretty Gouffre de Padirac: caves, with river at the bottom where you can take a small boat trip. Although 2.5 hours drive away, this is well worth the visit. Rocamadour: very pretty hill side village close to the caves – a good stop for lunch La Roque Saint Christophe: remains of a large troglodyte town. Monbazillac: vineyard very close by, with a lovely chateaux. La Roque Gageac and Beynac: very beautiful villages in cliff side. Chateau de Commarque: near Sarlat. Chateau des Milandes: museum to Josephine Baker and daily falconry display Château de Castelnaud: geared to childrens activities. Canoeing: a must if you haven’t done this before on the Dordogne with stunning views and numerous chateaux.
