In 2018 we decided to make the move from our permanent home in Mojacar, a pearl in the barren landscape of Andalusia in Southern Spain, to the beautiful green countryside that is Normandie, France. The following year we found and fell in love with our rather large house in Ger. The house once belonged to Docteur Michel and it was used as his Surgery. He certainly left his mark on the building. While we were redecorating the hallway, removing the old wallpaper, we found drawings on the wall of what he envisaged the banisters & railings would look like. We have preserved these drawings, making a feature of them behind photo frames. In one of the bedrooms, we also found drawings of the light fittings he intended to use, and yes, the lights were still in situ too. The room where I am currently sat was the pharmacy. I am surrounded by wooden shelves and cupboards where you can just imagine the patients notes being filed and all the pills and potions available for prescription, but the most intriguing item we have, is a grand old safe, complete with it’s key, but no combination! Four holes, at least 20 combinations per hole - what is in there? Will we ever find out?

So 2020 brings on a new challenge for myself and husband Keith, running a Chambres d’hôtes business. We hope to eventually have 5 bedrooms up and running and we aim to provide you with a copious breakfast to get you started each day. To keep you entertained we have a Salle de jeux (games room), complete with pool table & dart board and a pétanque court in the garden with low level lighting at night. Our garden is South facing, providing all day sun in the summer months, but we also have shady areas for you to escape the heat. Our garden is open for all our guests to enjoy. We would love to welcome you all to our home in France, to share our hospitality and beautiful house. You may arrive as strangers, but hopefully, you will leave as new friends.
