We are delighted to welcome you to our home nestled amongst vineyards between the Cèze River and the Cévennes mountains. Situated on a hectare of land, the gite is an old stone farmhouse on two floors, each floor with its own terrace and fully equipped interior including kithen and living area; an idyllic place for a reunion of family or friends. The outdoor space includes a large wood-fenced salt water swimming pool area with shaded garden, a spacious covered veranda/ bar, a gas weber BBQ, an equipped gym room and outdoor table tennis area. A badminton court is available in the orchard alongside the pool area. Other features are an out-door electric sauna and large children's playground with mountain bike circuit nestled in the forested area; a full sized ‘terrain de pétanque’; and tables and chairs, a wood-fired Weber barbecue, a wood-fired pizza oven and a chiminea in the shaded garden adjacent to the house. The top floor features a spacious terrace with fabulous views overlooking the vineyards; and ground floor has a large covered patio with dining area overlooking the shady garden. The property includes two large kitchen/dining/living rooms; 5 bedrooms (one en-suite) with double beds (two of which can be split into two single beds); a mezzanine in the en-suite bedroom to sleep two youngsters; a small quiet room/study; 3 bathrooms with walk in showers; and 2 toilets. Note that the house accommodates 10 people - or 12 if the mezzanine in ensuite bedroom is used. The Sauna the hosts request a small energy fee of 5 euro per two-hour session to cover the additional electricity costs. For guest comfort, the top floor is equipped with ceiling fans and down stairs rooms have standing fans and all windows are equipped with mosquito nets and shutters or blinds. The stone-walled property is completely isolated to help reduce the heat of summer (or cold of winter!). Charging point for electrical vehicles available.

After 30 years working in international development around the globe, we decided to slow down and settle here. We restored this farmhouse with care and love over a 12 month period, and designed it to welcome people like you — looking to relax, reconnect, and enjoy good times together. Your hosts will share a welcome pack in advance of your arrival - and be on site to explain all the details of the property on arrival. For change over days your hosts will also sometimes be on site overnight in a discreet apartment below the main accommodation.

St Ambroix is perfectly placed on the border between the Ardeche and Le Gard, and is a gateway to exploring the wilderness area of the Cevennes national park. Guests can access a little known pebble beach on the Ceze river by a small track through the forest adacent to the property. Guests love to take day trips to visit the historic towns (Uzes, Nimes, Avignon- all within 1 1/2 hr drive) and villages (nearby are the charming villages of Barjac, Lussan, Bannes among others) of the area. St Ambroix itself is an attractive medieval market town with fascinating cobbled backstreets to explore and small cafes, bars and restaurants to enjoy. The area also features a number of spectacular limestone caves (Cocaliere and Salamandra caves are both less than 20 kms away) and superb rivers and gorges (notably the Ardeche, Gardon, Ceze and Chassezac gorges) with canoeing and rock climbing among the top attractions. The magnificent historic Pont du Gard is less than an hour's drive away. For wine lovers, the renowned Domaine de Berguerolles is 5 minutes walk across the vineyards where wine tasting and evening dining is popular. Also 20 minutes walking distance is the popular bar/restaurant (Guinguette) 'Riviera' where river bathing is possible in the Ceze, and 'Cap Canoe' where you can hire canoes to sexplore the Ceze river.
