My name is Alicja and together with Michal we run holiday cottages in the most beautiful countryside of southern Charente. I am an English teacher who decided to follow her dream in hospitality, with a passion for cooking, gardening and interior design. I will make sure you have the most relaxing time in our idyllic and peaceful location.

Nestled in peaceful hills of southern Charente with Aubettere, chosen as one of the most beautiful villages in France, just a stone's throw away, La Colline dle Tilleul gites are perfect cosy hide away to unwind, slow down and recharge. For a family vocation, romantic getaway, some me-time all by yourself or to work on a creative project. Relax in 1.5 acres of gently sloping gardens and meadow, with fruit, nut and lime trees for shade. Enjoy the views from the hilltop down the valley, looking over sunflowers and meadows towards a small lake, distant woods and fields. Admire the incredibly starry skies we get here, the Milky Way is clearly visible and shooting stars put on nightly shows. This is Cognac, vineyard and Pineau country with specialities of foie gras, melon and chestnut dishes. We are around in case you would need us. We have 3 holiday homes available for you; all are of traditional Charentaise stone and red tile construction, renovated and fully equipped. The cottages are well separated from each other and there is plenty of space for privacy. You will have your own BBQ and terrace to enjoy al-fresco dining. The large heated swimming pool (open June-September) is 12 x 6 metres, sloping from 1m to 2m deep, floodlit and terraced. Other facilities include table tennis, full-size pool table, bikes, croquet, Badminton, a Petanque piste, swings, selection of board games, etc.

You can take a bike to explore the surrounding area, pop in for a coffee or lunch in the square of beautiful Aubeterre, visit its breathtaking, and Europe's largest underground monolithic church, or have fun swimming and canoeing on river Dronne. The nearest supermarket is 10 minutes drive away, in Chalais, with its chateau, shops, bars, restaurants, weekly farmers market and the most delicious almond croissant from the Boulangerie La Petrisane (opposite Lidi). Other activities nearby: golf, tennis, river and lake swimming, cycling, fishing, kayaking, shopping at local farmers markets (including night markets in summers), wine and cognac testing etc. And within an easy drive ... Cognac, Brantome, Brossac, Paradou, St Aulaye, Bonnes, Riberac, Montboyer, Montmoreau, Les Essards, Villebois Lavalette, La Rochebeaucourt et Argentine, Marevil, Pons, Jarnac, Bourdeilles, St Emilion, Bergerac, Periqueux, Barbezieux, Jonsac, Angouleme, Confolens, Bordeaux etc. Once you arrive you will receive a comprehensive guide to things to do, places to visit, guidebooks and websites to consult etc. The cottages are self-catering and you will have an equipped kitchen. You will find all we feel you need, from the highest quality bedding and towels, handmade soap, to tea, coffee, herbs and spices, so you can enjoy your escape to the country to the fullest.
