Les Galineaux is a spacious and rustic house full of character. It is elegantly yet simply decorated with French furniture and modern pieces, and offers a calm atmosphere for fun and relaxation. Natural stone walls, ancient beams, sanded floors and stone flags keep the character and charm of this old, rustic farmhouse. The open plan country kitchen, which gives onto the garden, is at the heart of the house, well equipped including Nespresso coffee maker, Smeg fridge Seimens dishwasher as well as traditional French cookware adding character! There is a large living space behind and a ground floor bedroom to the side. The stairs split in two going to either part of the house - ideal for two. 5 spacious bedrooms offer lots of space. including 4 single beds. Walled, fenced and a manageable size, the garden is a secure area for playing and relaxing. The great pool in summer months is ideal for fun, a cool down and a sun bathe! There is also a smaller paddling pool which can be filled for little ones. Badminton, cricket and table tennis are all available. The shady terrace area is close to the kitchen and offers long hours of convivial al freso dining in the shade of the plum tree.

Always dreaming of owning a holiday place in France we fell in love with this sunny, spacious and welcoming house a few years ago while on holiday. We also fell for the area which has such variety to offer and would keep our family and friends entertained and happy for many repeat visits. Lovers of fine food and wine (the parents), fans of adventure and water activity (the children), and sun bathing (the girls), enthusiasts of history and golf (the grandparents) there is plenty here to keep everyone happy for many years to come. We have done lots of improvements: adding a fantastic kitchen and two stylish bathrooms but have preserved the atmosphere and character of this charming, rural house. Very excitingly we have added a great swimming pool! We live in Edinburgh the rest of the year. With 3 children we have had many holidays in France and Spain renting houses or camping and we are aware of the many things that make a holiday easier and fun. We have tried to incorporate these things in our own holiday house. Most importantly, it is a lovely, relaxed home and not a purpose fitted holiday rental with Ikea fittings. We ask you to enjoy it and look after it as you would your own!

On your doorstep you have woodland walks and great cycle rides; within a ten minute drive or less you have golf, horse riding, tennis, canoeing, kayaking, river trips on the Dordogne, the Chateau at Duras and further afield you have all the great vineyards of Aquitaine. The area is well known for its Bastides - or medieval fortresses - and during the summer the re-enactments and medieval feasts are most entertaining. Issigeac is such a village, beautifully preserved and well worth a visit.
