The gites adjoin our house and are situated in grounds of 8 acres. We are surrounded by rural countryside creating a safe haven for our guests to enjoy the pool and gardens in complete safety and security. This is the perfect quiet and peaceful location to enjoy the beautiful Languedoc countryside. At night there is no noise or light pollution to impede your view of the night sky or muffle the sounds of nature. Grand Pic sleeps 6 & Petit Pic 4, and both may be booked together allowing for larger groups.. Guests have use of a 10m x 5m heated pool equipped with sun beds, pool towels and inflatable pool toys and floats. Each gite has a fully equipped kitchen and full laundry facilities. There is also a charcoal BBQ. Meals may be taken on the open air terrace overlooking the gardens or indoors. Grand Pic has a large dining table with ample room for 6.
We relocated to the peace and tranquility of the Languedoc in 2018, after spending 15 years living and working in the Middle East.
The property is situated in the heart of Cathar country and is just half an hour's drive from the World Heritage listed citadel at Carcassonne. For those with an interest in medieval history, there are many ruined castles from the time of the Cathars. We are located in the middle of the AOC Malpere wine region with many small producers close at hand offering the opportunity to taste and buy the local wines. Around the nearby town of Limoux you will find the famous Blanquette de Limoux, a sparkling wine produced using the methode champenoise. For those who are looking for a more active holiday we are close to the GR7 hiking trail, and a short distance from beautiful walking trails in the French Pyrenees. Mountain bikes can be hired locally. Canoeing and kayaking is available on the River Aude, with a watersports centre in Limoux. A watersports centre can also be found at the Lac de Montbel. Boats and pedaloes are available for hire on the lake. Horse riding is available close to the property. We are also about one hour from the ski slopes in winter. Alternatively, if you fancy a day at the seaside it is just over an hour s drive to the Mediterranean coast at Narbonne Plage.
