Rustic village house in Embres et Castelmaure, in the Corbieres hills - Peaceful Location In Typical Winegrowing Village With Walking And Cycling Paths On The Doorstep Sleeps 9, 4 bedroom house with separate courtyard and pool is about 30 mins from local beaches. Maison de la Fontaine is ideally suited to family holidays or groups of friends. There are 4 bedrooms: 3 double bedrooms, 2 of which are en suite and a family room with a double bed and one single bed. There is an outdoor cooking area with a BBQ and a pizza oven.The surrounding region is of historical value with its own micro climate, enjoying 300 days of sunshine annually, benefiting from long hot summers and the most amazing star filled sky. Vineyards and medieval castles characterize the landscape whilst the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are a short drive away. The village has an award winning Cave Cooperative so a visit is a must to sample some of the best local wine. Please not there is no facility for charging electric cars. Do not attempt to charge your car as this may cause a high electrical load which may pose a fire hazard.

This area of unspoilt natural beauty is ideal for walking and mountain biking and offers beautiful rivers, gorges and the Canal du Midi. 30 minutes drive away, you will find stunning beaches, with excellent facilities for swimming, sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving and windsurfing. The Aqualand water park in Port Leucate is sure to delight children. Sigean has a wonderful nature reserve. A great base for exploring the area. The immediate area is perfect for walking, road cycling and mountain-biking, in fact the Cathar Way a popular long distance footpath goes past our house. There are also tennis courts and a municipal swimming pool 7kms away in Durban. All types of water sports are available at the Mediterranean coast with Leucate beaches renowned for wind-surfing and kite-surfing. There are local horse riding facilities and gorge walking and canyoning in the Gorges de Galamus.
