Hello we are Jo and Geoff Tait. We have recently converted two barns at our home in St Sulpice de Cognac, South West France. When we go on holiday we want to stay somewhere that is as comfortable as our own home. This is what we have tried to create at Mon Coup de Coeur Gites. We hope you agree with us when you visit.

"what3words": ///ladybird.whispering.inhaler We are located in the Borderies cru of the cognac-producing areas and we are surrounded by vineyards. The country roads around our property and particularly the white roads (the smallest, typically traffic-free roads running through the vines, connecting hamlets and towns) offer great opportunities for fresh air walks and cycle rides, with plenty of opportunities to stop and picnic. We are between a 3 and 15 minute car ride for a choice of 7 supermarkets. There is a boulangerie two minutes away (the "pain au raisins' sell out quickly, so get there early!). Mon Coup de Coeur gîtes are 10 kilometres from the covered market in Cognac town centre. Cognac boasts 57 places to eat, from fast food through to haute cuisine. The small town offers a selection of shops, bars and restaurants and is traffic-free. Place François Premier at the top of the town is a great place to eat, stop off for a coffee (or something stronger) and watch the world pass by. There are 250+ cognac producers, most of which offer tastings (our personal favourites are listed under "Activities" on this site). The larger city of Saintes is approximately 25 minutes from us. Saintes hosts open-air markets several times a week in different locations (see the "Activities" section on this site for details). There are more shopping options in Saintes than in Cognac and it too is traffic-free. The le Clerc and Super-U hypermarkets in Saintes are enormous. The beautiful city of Bordeaux is approximately 90 minutes away by car and it is as vibrant and bustling as any major city in the world. The river Charente runs right through Cognac and Saintes and there are plenty of activities along the river. Our nearest beaches are around Royan, itself a nice town (our personal favourites are listed under "Activities" on this site)
