Situated a 15 min walk away from the working French village of Cancon with all its amenities, (bank, butchers, bakers, small supermarket, pharmacy etc) 10 Palayre is just 30 min easy drive from Bergerac Airport. Further airport options are Bordeaux and Toulouse, both a 2 hr drive away. Additionally there is no set changeover day. Guests are able to arrive and leave on any day of the week giving total flexibility when choosing flights.

Alan is a retired Primary School Headteacher and lives in Slaithwaite near Huddersfield with his wife Sue. Alan also worked as a lecturer and tutor at Manchester Met, Leeds and Bradford Universities. He has just had his first children's book published - 'Don't Get Mad...' and also works as a film 'extra' having appeared (briefly) in the tv series 'Victoria', and the feature films 'Dad's Army' and 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them'. Sue owns her own business - 'Mr Frog Dancewear' based in Huddersfield which is now entering the 32nd year of trading. We are available via email / phone at all times. Additionally we have a lovely English couple living nearby who manage the villa for us and are available should there be any on the spot queries.

The villa is situated in the heart of the "Bastide" towns of southwest France which are a growing tourist attraction, comprising one of the largest collections of well-preserved mediaeval townscapes to be found anywhere in Europe. The bastide towns were usually built to a strict grid layout, with equal space allocated to each house. The grid centred on a square, which often contained a market hall and sheltered arcades around the edges. There was usually a church, often fortified, built adjacent to the main square. The 'centre' of the bastide area is the Monflanquin - Monpazier - Villereal area, all within easy reach, - plus others including Eymet, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Tournon d'Agenais, Beaumont, Castillones and Domme. Both Monflanquin and Villereal have been voted ‘One of the Most Beautiful Towns in France’ and both are less than 18 km away from the villa. Both are beautiful relaxed bastide towns full of real shops rather than tourist ones, a classic square, restaurants .
