The flat is spacious and quiet. It is ideal for one couple, since it has only one bedroom, but the sofa bed in the main room makes it possible to accommodate another couple. It is insulated, and double glazed and is thus warm in winter (central heating)and cool in summer (air-conditioning). There is a good-sized kitchen built into the main room. The apartment is unpretentious, but friendly and welcoming.

Having spent wonderful holidays in France in my teens, I have loved the country and its language for decades.. I studied history at Oxford and taught French in school, and then, after a six-year long boat trip in France and in the Med, finally settled in Cucugnan in 2009. I have resumed teaching, and offer one-to-one language courses in French and in English to both old and young here in Cucugnan My interests are in history, theatre, literature, story-telling and singing in our local choir, and, of course, (this is France after all !) in the wonderful food and wines that may be enjoyed here.

Such wild natural beauty is becoming rare in our overcrowded world ! The place is steeped in history with ancient castles set on rugged crags looking down on the valleys. The village, surrounded by vineyards, is as picturesque as one could want, and is topped by its ancient but recently restored windmill, and a bakery which has featured on TV for the purity of its unhybridised grains and its traditional techniques of raising and baking. Here you may eat spelt bread like Caesar or kamut bread like the Pharoahs ! There is a shop for food, and three good restaurants. It is a paradise for walkers or cyclists (if you enjoy hills), or simply a good place to relax, taste the good wines, listen to the nightingales in the early summer or the cicadas in August and take time to pause.
