Farmers & Producers markets are a regular feature through the area so there will generally be one within a short drive if you stay falls on an alternative week. Throughout the summer months there is a full and varied calendar of events organised by the Summer Festivities committee which include popular Scottish Nights on a Thursday evening cumulating with a Tattoo at the end of August. There are numerous nearby attractions and activities for both adults and children, The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory offers both indoor and outdoor play areas and chocolate making workshops. For the more active there are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities be it coastal, hill or forest; numerous sandy coves and beaches cry out to be explored; The Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain’s first Dark Sky Park is within easy reach and offers spectacular opportunities for star gazing. Being Scotland golf is never far away, and the town boasts an 18 hole course with many others within a short drive.
