Discover Littlebeck & Falling Foss Waterfall
Tucked away in the heart of the North York Moors National Park, Littlebeck is a hidden gem — a tranquil valley where ancient woodland, winding streams, and peaceful footpaths create a true sense of escape. The pretty hamlet is surrounded by lush countryside, alive with birdsong and deer, and is perfect for walkers, photographers, and nature lovers alike.
One of the area’s highlights is the Littlebeck to Falling Foss walk, a scenic woodland trail that follows the bubbling beck through enchanting beech and oak woods. Along the way, you’ll pass The Hermitage, a tiny cave carved into sandstone by a monk in the 18th century, before reaching the breathtaking Falling Foss Waterfall — a spectacular 30-foot cascade tumbling into a shaded glen.
Just above the falls you’ll find the Falling Foss Tea Garden, a delightful outdoor tearoom set in the garden of Midge Hall cottage. It’s the perfect place to rest, enjoy homemade cakes, scones, and a pot of tea while listening to the sound of the waterfall and the rustle of the trees.
Littlebeck is also part of the Coast to Coast walking route, so you may spot hikers passing through on their journey across England. Whether you’re seeking a gentle stroll, a woodland adventure, or simply a moment of peace beside the water, Littlebeck and Falling Foss promise something truly special — a magical corner of Yorkshire that stays with you long after you leave.
