Port Appin lies on the coast of Appin, just north of Loch Creran where it meets the sea. From this picturesque village, you can enjoy stunning views across the Lynn of Lorne to the northern tip of the Isle of Lismore, as well as across Loch Linnhe to the coast of Morvern beyond. The area is known for its natural beauty and offers a lovely coastal walk along a promontory with cliffs to the left, as well as gorgeous coastal views.
In Port Appin, you have two delightful dining options: The Pierhouse Hotel offers stunning views and lovely food, including their Arbroath Smokie & Cheddar Soufflé, while The Airds Hotel & Restaurant focuses on fine dining with fresh local produce and exceptional seafood.
One of Scotland’s most romantic ruined castles, Castle Stalker, occupies a tiny rock island to the north of the village.
A great way to explore the area is cycling and bikes can be hired in Port Appin. And if you want to venture further afield then a small passenger ferry run from there to the neighboring island of Lismore and bikes travel for free. Other outdoor pursuit on offer include boat hire, sailing, and windsurfing, waterskiing, clay-pigeon shooting and pony trekking.
