A large thatched cottage, parts of which date back 400 yrs, Dynes Cottage is on the outskirts of Finchingfield, one of the most beautiful villages in England. The cottage boasts a beautiful large kitchen, a spacious lounge with a cosy open fire, a dramatic dining room and a games room with table football.
It also benefits from a private walled courtyard, complete with BBQ, and a beautiful orchard with climbing frame and swings for the children.
The cottage has 5 spacious bedrooms (4 doubles and 1 twin) as well as a 'secret bedroom'. The secret bedroom has a full sized single bed, but is accessed through one of the double bedrooms via a reduced height door - perfect for an agile adult or a small child.
One of the bedrooms and one of the bathroom are on the ground floor, which ensures that all members of the family (even those with reduced mobility) can come and enjoy Dynes Cottage.
The cottage has beautiful sunset views over open fields and gorgeous country walks available right from the doorstep. It is located just half a mile from beautiful Finchingfield, one of the most photographed villages in the country, which boasts a number of excellent pubs, tea rooms and a quaint village green complete with duck pond. The village also offers a museum, a 14th Century Church, the historic Guildhall dated from the 15th Century, as well as a children's play park, football pitch and tennis court - something for all of the family!
The cottage is set in a complex of 3 houses, one of which is a smaller holiday cottage (Acorn Cottage - sleeps 4) and the last of which is home to your host, Catherine and her family.
Catherine and her family live on site and are available if you have any questions. Catherine can provide a number of routes for country walks (complete with pubs at the far end!) or cycles around the very quiet country lanes should that be of interest.
When Catherine isn't hosting the cottage she writes award-winning children's books and you'll be able to buy signed copies should you wish!
Maggie the very friendly dog, Murphy the rabbit and Tilly the horse also live on site. Please be aware that we may be in the orchard from time to time to tidy the garden.
Just an hour from London, 45mins from Cambridge and 25 minutes from Stansted Airport, Dynes Cottage is set just half a mile from the beautiful Finchingfield, one of the prettiest villages in England.
Finchingfield boasts three friendly pubs, two delightful tearooms, an antique shop, a museum, a 14th Century Church and an historic 15th Century Guildhall, most of which are situated around the beautiful village green and duckpond. The village also has a football pitch, play park and tennis court which are all free to access.
The Cottage itself is surrounded by miles of idyllic country walks and small country lanes which are perfect for cycling. Indeed Finchingfield was part of the 2014 Tour de France route and is incredibly popular with cyclists.
We would recommend bringing a car to get around while you are here so you can visit the beautiful Audley End House and Gardens, historic Thaxted and the other nearby attractions. London and Cambridge are easily accessible for a day trip. There is plenty of free parking on site.
