Neighbourhood information
Trebarwith Strand is a picturesque tidal beach near Tintagel in Cornwall, known for its dramatic cliffs, golden sand, and excellent surf, accessible only at low tide. Why not check out Port William pub, too - you will not be disappointed!
In the centre of a rugged and romantic coastline is Tintagel; with its legendary connection to King Arthur, it has become a popular destination. The village is bustling hive of activity with its many gift shops and fine eateries, such as Ye Olde Malthouse Inn. Spend a day exploring the specular Tintagel Castle. Walk across the bridge between the main land and headland to take in the breath-taking views. Once on the headland explore the rich history; walk among the castle ruins, find early-medieval remains and locate the life-size bronze statue of an ancient king. Don’t forget to venture into Merlin’s Cave, down below at sea level.
Tintagel is the perfect base for avid walkers. Discover the sacred waterfall of St Nectan’s Glen or venture onwards to Pentargon Waterfall; be in awe of nature’s beauty while watching the colony of seals playing below. For a more challenging venture, look no further than Brown Willy; Cornwall’s largest hill with a summit of 1,378 feet featuring stunning views from Looe to Tintagel.
A short distance away is the iconic Port Isaac; a historic fishing village situated on the North Cornwall coastline with lovely fisherman’s cottages and narrow streets. Made famous by its alter-ego ‘Port Wenn’ in the television series ‘Doc Martin’. Visitors can take part in a tour which enjoys all the landmarks from the show.
While visiting Port Isaac you will not want to miss a performance by the bestselling folk group Fisherman’s Friends. Find them down on the harbour every Friday evening through the summer months.
