Property information

Step into the soul of Solva at Bwthyn Strathmore, a one-of-a-kind 18th-century cottage lovingly restored by its 92-year-old owner, Andy, and his wife, Margaret—long-time locals with a deep connection to the village. Thoughtfully brought back to life with timeless charm, this humble retreat, managed by Salt & City Stays, blends heritage with comfort for two. Just steps from the harbour, coastal path, and local pubs, it’s a peaceful haven with a story in every stone—and private parking too. Step into a living piece of Solva’s heritage, where traditional craftsmanship and thoughtful restoration bring soul and comfort in equal measure. Bwthyn Strathmore has been lovingly built using repurposed materials from local chapels, boats, and cottages—every timber and panel a tribute to the village's maritime and rural past. The cosy double bedroom opens directly onto a sunny, sheltered patio—an ideal morning coffee spot or a quiet place to relax after a coastal hike. Just off the patio, a utility room with a freezer, washing machine, and dryer is perfect for wetsuits, muddy boots, or adventure gear, with a side street-access door that makes storing bikes or watersports kit a breeze. Downstairs also features a bright, modern shower room and WC. Upstairs, you’ll find a modest but well-equipped kitchen and an inviting lounge area with a dining table, comfortable sofa, electric fire, books, and WiFi. It’s a space designed for slow mornings, quiet evenings, and everything in between. Traditional in style, beautifully maintained, and impossibly well located—this is Solva at its most authentic. Guests have exclusive access to the entire cottage, including a private parking space. The property is easily accessible, situated in the heart of Solva's lower village. Andy lives next door and is available throughout your stay. Throughout your booking, our small, dedicated team of four at Salt & City Stays will ensure all your needs are looked after.

Neighbourhood information

Nestled in the heart of Lower Solva, Bwthyn Strathmore places you at the centre of one of Pembrokeshire’s most characterful coastal villages. Just steps from your door are four welcoming pubs, a local art gallery, independent shops, and a cosy café—all lining the same historic street as the cottage itself. Wander 100 metres to reach the picturesque harbour and the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast Path—your gateway to windswept cliffs, hidden beaches, and breathtaking sea views. Beyond Solva, the magic of the St David’s Peninsula unfolds. Just ten minutes away lies Britain’s smallest city, St Davids, home to its awe-inspiring cathedral and a creative, cultural scene that punches well above its size. Explore wide golden beaches like Whitesands Bay and Newgale, or take a boat trip to spot puffins, seals, and dolphins along the wild offshore islands. Whether you’re here to hike, swim, paint, paddleboard or simply unwind in a place where history meets horizon, this corner of Pembrokeshire is full of soul—and yours to explore
