Oakdene Forest Park is part of the Shorefield group of holiday parks. The main reception building contains a pub/restaurant, a big bar where there is nightly entertainment, an indoor pool and gym, an outdoor pool which is open during summer months and an arcade as well as the main reception desk, a shop and launderette. FOR 2024 PASSES FOR ALL OF THE LEISURE FACILITIES ARE INCLDUED IN THE NIGHTLY PRICE OF THE CARAVAN. Within a couple of miles of Oakdene Forest Park are a Lidl, a large Sainsbury's and Tesco (Ferndown) stores, a Halfords for any car or bicycle issues you may have, several decent pubs (The Woodman is walking distance and is not bad) and takeaway outlets if that is of interest. I recommend Karsberg fish & chips which we always visit when we are there. If you have children there are fantastic playgrounds (with adjoining coffee shops - essential!) a mile down the road at Avon Heath Country Park or at the (more commercialised) Moors Valley Country Park. Both are a good day out. Then there is the New Forest which is so lovely with lots to do. Hire a bike at Burley, explore some trails and find your own secret corner of the forest. Discover one of the many quaint pubs and enjoy a meal there. Walk across heathland or through villages and see the famous wild ponies. Or visit Bucklers Hard for a step back in time. Beaulieu motor museum or Exbury Gardens are also great. If you are feeling adventurous there is the New Forest Water Park at Fordingbridge. The nearest beach is Bournemouth but it's easy to get to others. We like Hengistbury Head or taking the Sandbanks ferry to Studland Bay (National Trust). There is so much to see and if you don't mind driving up to an hour you have Swanage, Corfe Castle, Kimmeridge, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door.....
