About the property -
Climbing Rose Cottage is a charming 1800s Cotswold stone cottage, tucked away on a quiet lane in Upper Oddington. It’s part of a row of four cottages and offers a peaceful and practical base for exploring the Cotswolds.
We spend as much time here as we can and have poured a lot of love into making it a cosy, welcoming retreat, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Dogs are welcome too.
The front porch is handy for kicking off muddy boots or hanging wet coats after a day out, and it’s also where you’ll find the washer-dryer, should you need it during your stay.
The living space is open-plan and full of character, with oak beams and a large fireplace where the wood-burning stove sits. It’s cosy without being cramped, with a two-seater sofa, an armchair, and a dining table for two. There’s also a Smart TV for when you want to put your feet up after a day out.
The kitchen looks out onto the garden and has everything you need for cooking at home, including an electric Aga, microwave, small fridge with an icebox, a compact dishwasher, kettle, and toaster. It’s simple and functional, but you’ve got all the essentials covered.
Upstairs, the bathroom has a shower over the bath. Whether you prefer a quick rinse or a long soak, it’s perfect after a day of exploring.
The bedroom is spacious and comfortable, with a king-size bed that’s made for a good night’s sleep. There’s plenty of wardrobe and drawer space too, so you can unpack and settle in properly.
The cottage has a lovely outdoor space in front, with a garden and patio area furnished with seating. It’s a peaceful spot to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. For dog owners, it’s worth noting that the area isn’t secure, so yoyou may need to keep an eye on adventurous pups.
The cottage also has its own private parking space, making it easy to come and go during your stay.
About us -
Hi, we’re Chris and Clare,
Like so many others, we fell in love with the Cotswolds during our visits and knew we wanted a place of our own here one day—a peaceful retreat to enjoy ourselves and share with others.
Having stayed in plenty of privately owned holiday cottages over the years, we’ve learned what makes a place special. With that in mind, we’ve tried to create a holiday home that’s warm, welcoming, and memorable for all the right reasons.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
About the area -
You won’t have to go far for great food. A short walk takes you to The Fox at Oddington and The Horse & Groom (currently closed due to new ownership), two fantastic pubs offering cosy atmospheres and excellent food.
For something extra special, The Old Butchers in Stow-on-the-Wold is a firm favourite for its relaxed setting and incredible food. Nearby, The Kingham Plough and The Wild Rabbit offer wonderful menus with locally sourced ingredients.
On Sundays, we always recommend The King’s Head in Bledington for a traditional roast. It’s our favourite spot for a leisurely lunch in a welcoming setting.
For fresh produce, Daylesford Organic is just down the road. You can grab coffee, stock up on treats, or book a spa treatment. Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop and The Farmer’s Dog pub are also nearby and worth a visit.
Villages and Walks
Oddington is surrounded by iconic villages like Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, and Bourton-on-the-Water, each offering boutique shops, riverside strolls, and charming tearooms.
There are also some wonderful walking routes nearby. We’re happy to share our favourites, along with recommendations for pubs or cafés to stop at along the way.
Day Trips and Attractions
The Big Feastival in Kingham is a must if you’re visiting in late summer. The area also has plenty of National Trust properties, from stately homes to tranquil gardens.
For shopping, Bicester Village is less than 45 minutes away, and for history lovers, Oxford is under an hour’s drive.
Upper Oddington offers the perfect mix of peace, countryside charm, and easy access to the best of the Cotswolds.
