Property information
Located a 15 minute walk from the city centre Chertsey Mount Townhouse, Carlisle is ideally based for those working locally or as a base from which to explore the historic city. There are a number of fast food restaurants and take aways on your doorstep for the nights you prefer not to cook and within a 2 minute drive is ASDA for all your groceries. The city centre with shops, bars and restaurants is a 5 minute drive along with the historic quarter home to the castle and cathedral. The house is a spacious home from home, perfect for a break away at any time of year with an enclosed garden for lazy sunny days and a wood burning stove to keep you warm and cosy on chilly evenings. Although only moments from the city centre the townhouse is in an elevated location, surrounded by trees giving it a quiet country feel.
The lounge is the central hub of the house with comfy seating positioned around the Smart TV and feature fireplace, relax with a book or catch up on your favourite programs. The kitchen is equipped to rustle up a feast with electric oven and hob, American fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Meals can be enjoyed in the separate dining room in front of the wood burning stove, linger over your morning coffee on the sofa and plan the days adventures or gather the family round the table to enjoy games. There is a handy ground floor cloakroom.
As evening descends the first floor bedrooms beckon, as you ascend the staircase the large stained glass window takes your attention and floods the staircase with natural light through the day. The master bedroom has a king size bed and TV. Three further double bedrooms promise a restful nights sleep. The family bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle and WC.
All gas, electric, bed linen and towels provided (bring your own logs). Sorry no cot or highchair available. There is private parking in front of the garage for 1 car and ample on street parking. The enclosed garden is mostly laid to lawn...
Neighbourhood information
The historic border city of Carlisle lies just 9 miles from Scotland, making it an ideal base for exploring northern England, the Scottish Borders, and the Lake District. Newcastle is also within easy reach—just over an hour’s drive away. Carlisle is home to one of the best-preserved castles in the UK, rich in history from its role in defending against Scottish invasions to being the place where Mary, Queen of Scots, was once imprisoned.
The city offers a wide range of attractions, including the impressive cathedral and the Tullie House Museum, as well as plenty of family-friendly entertainment such as a trampoline park, cinema, and soft play centres. With three rivers flowing through Carlisle, scenic riverside walks are just minutes away. There are also several green spaces, including Bitts Park and Rickerby Park—perfect for picnics, strolls, or a game of football.
For leisure and sports enthusiasts, two golf courses are just a short drive away, and The Sands Centre offers a variety of fitness and entertainment options. The natural beauty of the Lake District is within easy reach, with Ullswater less than an hour’s drive away. The Solway Coast, ideal for beach days, is also about an hour away. Meanwhile, Gretna Green—famous for its romantic history—and the Gretna Gateway Outlet Village are just 30 minutes from the city.
