Situated in Moffat, Church Gate House was built in the 1800's for writer Thomas Tait and used as the clerk office to the Moffat Police Commissioners. Located next to the Moffat high street overlooking the majestic St Andrews Church. As you enter the close (alleyway) just opposite the St Andrew Church you will be met by a private entrance into Church Gate House on your first right which leads up to the first floor. Recently renovated to a high standard Church Gate House offers accommodation with free WIFI and free street parking. This spacious apartment has 2 king size bedrooms, a newly fitted kitchen with built in oven, washing machine, fridge freezer and a Nespresso coffee machine. Other amenities include flat-screen TV's with streaming services. Guests at the apartment will be able to enjoy activities in and around Moffat, like walking, golfing, fishing and cycling. The nearest airport is Edinburgh Airport, 90 km from Church Gate House

Moffat, a town in the Annandale valley, grew from a village in the 17th century to a spa town in the 18th and 19th centuries due to the belief that the sulphurous waters of the Moffat Well had healing properties. Many of the town's structures are from this era, and the current Town Hall was first constructed as a bath house. The original well is still accessible, and it is located 1.5 miles outside of town in the countryside. Along with its reputation as a spa town, Moffat's importance increased as a result of the wool trade and its use as a stopover on routes between England and Scotland. The town is now popular with tourists, and it's not just because of the breath-taking scenery that makes for fantastic walking, cycling, and fishing options.
