Coachman's comprises a spacious double bedroom with king size bed and large wardrobe, en-suite facilities with bath, rainfall shower and hand-held shower; a living room with two south-facing windows looking out onto the garden and incorporating a fully-equipped kitchen area with electric hob, oven, extractor fan, under-counter fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster, cutlery and crockery for 4 with all usual cooking utensils. The living room has a dining table for two, two-seater sofa and armchair and TV. There is full fibre broadband as well as good mobile data signal. Coachman's has its own separate entrance with adjacent bench where guests can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet and view of the garden, which they are also welcome to explore. The property has been freshly decorated and is presented in good condition. Claremont Cottage was built just over 100 years ago as accommodation for two families of estate workers on the Mount Melville Estate, then owned by the Younger family who had it designed by their architect, Paul Waterhouse, who later became president of the RIBA, like his father Alfred Waterhouse, who designed the Natural History Museum in London.

We enjoy looking after guests and live at the property so are on hand to give advice and assistance when required. We have also provided the Garden Suite B&B accommodation in another part of the property for the past seven years, with top-ranking review scores. We are proud of Scotland, our home since 1985, and can give recommendations of things to see and do, locally in East Fife and further afield. Neill loves hillwalking, with only a handful of Munros yet to climb, as well as a fatal fascination for classic cars. We both appreciate music, art and architecture.

Located c3 miles east of the centre of St Andrews, we are well placed to access all that this unique Scottish town has to offer. The nearest golf course, the Dukes Course, is less than a mile away with views over the whole of St Andrews Bay and adjacent to Craigtoun Park, both of which formed part of the Mount Melville Estate. Our nearest village is Strathkinness, which is blessed with the Tavern pub and restaurant which often provides our guests with excellent hearty meals. We are also 4 miles north of Peat Inn, a renowned Michelin-starred restaurant. There are many other eating places in both St Andrews and Cupar as well as the East Neuk villages which lie within 12 miles of us. Three National Trust for Scotland properties are within easy striking distance: Hill of Tarvit near Ceres (designed by Sir Robert Lorimer), 12th Century Kellie Castle near Pittenweem (restored by Sir Robert Lorimer for his family in the early 20th Century) and Falkland Palace. Dundee lies 12 miles to the north with the V&A, and then Glamis Castle and William Adam's House of Dun in Angus. But Claremont Cottage and gardens provide an oasis of peace and calm themselves.
