Established in 1759 and sitting on the banks of the River Ancholme, farmers and traders used to leave their horses and carts in the White Hart pub stables that backed onto Sergeants Brewery. Grand houses ran on both sides, the reading room, Springs factory all now long gone….The White Hart has stood the test of time. In 1978 Ray Neal purchased the pub when it was in a state of disrepair. This was the last time it was renovated, until now!
We have retained the original bar area, increased the large function space, added a high-end kitchen, intimate snugs, games area, landscaped the riverside beer garden and added 15 bedrooms and a further 2 cottage bedroom snugs.

Brigg and Surrounding Area
The White Hart occupies a fabulous position on The Old River Ancholme at the entrance into the old Market Square. Brigg is locally renowned as one of the best towns for independent shopping and its fantastic farmers’ market, which is in addition to the traditional market that takes place every Thursday. The snug “courts” and “yards” have the most unusual shops. From finding those special one-off pieces to wedding attire Brigg has it all. With lots of places to eat and drink in walking distance from The White Hart, Brigg really is the quintessential market town.
You can explore the River Ancholme and the rest of the Ancholme Valley by following the Ancholme Valley Way. The path takes you from Brigg all the way to South Ferriby (10 miles) . You can enjoy the path either by foot or cycle and is the perfect way to enjoy the riverbank’s beautiful wildlife and diverse landscape.
