The cottages were built in 2019 on the site of a disused farm building and have been finished to a very high standard. The heating comes from an air to water system which pumps the water through under floor pipes providing a steady heat throughout all the rooms. The flooring has been specially chosen to allow the heat to rise into the room with the floors warm to touch. The shower rooms are extremely spacious. The single beds in the the rooms can be linked together to make super king size beds. A welcome pack of Orkney produce is available on arrival.

We live on the nearby family organic farm and are the 6th generation to work the land where the cottages sit. It's a family run business with both our son and daughter helping out along with their partners and the grandchildren. As the farm is part of a nature reserve we love meeting the many people that visit. Establishing the self catering accommodation has been a long held dream for us and we manage the business ourselves and endeavour to meet every guest on their arrival. As we live just 300 metres away we are always available to help out and offer advice to make the guests stay as enjoyable as possible.

Cottiscarth Cottages sits in an elevated rural location in the West Mainland of Orkney, with expansive views over the countryside and out to sea. The main towns of Kirkwall and Stromness are just 20 minutes away by car and the Neolithic sites of Maeshowe, The Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae are just a 15 minute drive. The accommodation is part of a working farm.
