Only a two-minute walk onto the long flat promenade stretching along this pretty sandy bay where you can often watch out for the dolphins. Water enthusiasts will enjoy paddle boarding or surfing which is popular with locals Adults and children will enjoy the rockpools at both ends of the bay when the tide is out, rest on one of the many seats and look out at the only East Coast offshore statue "The Couple" facing out to sea. Newbiggin Lifeboat and Rocket House are one of the oldest in England and you can pop into the RNLI on a Sunday morning and chat to the friendly crew who practice most Sundays. At the far end of the bay is the Maritime Centre with large Glass windows with a lovely cafe, gift shop and Lifeboat Museum. Set in the centre by the band stand is a lovely Italian ice cream parlour belonging to the same family for years. The cliff top golf course has lovely views and a good cafe on site. Newbiggin was once a thriving fishing village and some coble boats still fish every day. Nearby there are plenty of Supermarkets and shops and the historic market town of Morpeth is only 8 miles with a lovely Edwardian arcade to explore and some super bars and restaurants to try.
