Nestled in the back streets of Whitby, Driftwood Den is a Grade II Listed Cottage tucked between a ramshackle of properties. It is perfectly located just set back alongside the Harbour and less than 10 minutes to most of the town centre Landmarks such as The Swing Bridge and 199 Steps. It is perfect for the Solo traveller or Couple wanting to explore the town and offers an open plan space with ensuite Shower Room, Double Bed, Sofa, Dining Table, Kitchenette, Gas Log Burner, Flat Screen Smart TV with Netflix, Shared Garden & Patio Area. It is studio style and Bijoux in size but we have thought of everything you'll need for a comfortable stay that provides you with more amenities than a Hotel Room but without the usual price tag of a Cottage in Whitby!
I fell in Love with Whitby about 20 years ago and finally moved here in 2015. With a background in Hospitality I sold my Pub in York and moved to The Endeavour Pub in Whitby, developing this into a 5 Letting Bedrooms. I had always wanted a traditional Fishermans cottage and finally bought this lovely little cottage in July 2024 , I've spent the last year renovating it myself and am excited to share this delightful little cottage with you all.
Driftwood Den is less than a 10 minute walk to all the main town centre attractions such as The swing Bridge and 199 Steps. Located just off Church Street opposite Parkol Marine Engineering we are located on the traditional East Side of town. It is less than a 7 minute walk to The Endeavour Pub and there are 2 other pubs on the way! Salt Pan Well steps connects Church Street to the Ropery and we are closest to Church Street than the Ropery meaning there are just 12 steps to ascend. Driftwood Den is a true ramshackle property having properties to either side and above and below! - we believe the property originally would have been one building but is now a collection of 5 properties which share the communal Patio and Garden. The Garden is on a steep slope but is perfect if you're bringing a dog with you.
