We live In Lyme Regis and are very happy to help with information and suggestions for great restaurants, pubs and places to visit. Monmouth House is a substantial Georgian town house estimated to date back around 300 years. A house of historic importance we have beautifully restored the property to its former splendour, retaining a wealth of character features including window seats, fireplaces and wood panelling. The interior is a lovely, stylish mix of modern and vintage decor and high quality furnishings which compliment wonderfully the original character and charm. A fantastic property, with its central location allowing you to enjoy all that this traditional seaside town has to offer.

Property information

Grade II listed historic Monmouth House overlooking Georges Square in the heart of the beautiful old town of Lyme Regis. Five, beautiful grade II listed self contained, independent apartments located at Monmouth House which can be booked independently or exclusively. The house is a 3 minute flat walk from the sea/beach and next to the fabulous independent restaurants, pubs and shops. A complimentary pre-paid car park permit at Woodmead Road car park a 5/10 minute walk away is provided for all apartments except for the Earl of Argyle double bedroom apartment. The Priesthole apartment, Lord Grey 2 bedroom apartment, The Earl of Feversham and Duke of Monmouth 3 bedroom penthouse apartment all include a complimentary parking permit. Parking is not provided for the Earl of Argyle double apartment and you can pay for parking on arrival at a nearby car park which is a 5/10 min walk away. The house dates back 300 years the Duke of Monmouth resided here during the Monmouth Rebellion. Pet friendly (ten pound per night fee). Duke of Monmouth sea view penthouse apartment sleeps 5 guests/ 3 king bedrooms, Wonderful private garden. Lord Grey sleeps 4 guests/2 bedrooms, small terrace. Earl of Feversham luxury large one bed apartment with terrace. Earl of Argyle one double bed apartment and the quirky Priesthole one king bed apartment. The one bedroom apartments have a sofa bed and can accommodate up to 2 adults and one child. Triple occupancy should be booked if you require the sofa bed.

Neighbourhood information

The house is located in the very heart of the beautiful, unspoilt seaside town of Lyme Regis, on the stunning Dorset coast. Monmouth Street is one of the historic thoroughfares in the old town of Lyme Regis that that bounds an artisan triangle of bakeries, galleries, arts&crafts and bespoke haute couture and overlooks Georges Square memorial garden. As well as a sandy beach and seafront promenade, the town includes River Cottage nearby along with many other independent restaurants, cafes, pubs and tearooms. Lyme Regis is a wonderful location for those looking for a traditional seaside break, there are a wide selection of independent shops, as well as an award winning museum and a small theatre. For the more adventurous the South West Coast Path heads west through the amazing Undercliffe between Lyme Regis and Axmouth, or east towards Charmouth and the magnificent National Trust land at Golden Cap.
