We also enjoy photography, design, and exploring Durham’s history, which inspires how we’ve styled the house and the tips we share with our guests. Our greatest joy is hearing guests say they’ve fallen in love with Durham just as much as we have.
Guests love that our Hideaway is right in the city centre yet tucked away in a quiet, gated spot — it’s the best of both worlds. Step outside and you’re just a short stroll from Durham’s most iconic landmarks: the magnificent Durham Cathedral, the historic Castle, and the winding River Wear. The neighbourhood is perfect for exploring on foot. Wander along the riverside, browse the independent shops on Saddler Street, or enjoy the city’s vibrant café culture — we recommend Flat White Kitchen for breakfast and Riverview Kitchen for a meal with a view. History lovers can visit the Durham Museum or take a guided tour of the Cathedral’s tower for breathtaking views. For a peaceful escape, the Botanic Garden and Crook Hall Gardens are nearby, while foodies will enjoy the excellent local restaurants, from fine dining to cosy pubs.
