We built a beautiful oak framed building in the heart of our estate about 5 years ago and have run two self catering holiday let units from it. They have proved very popular for couples visiting the region but are limited to just 3 or at a squeeze 4 people (these are listed under Finlaystone Barns). Our new Family Barn is either just a bigger space for 2 people or can comfortably accommodate 2 couples or a family. It has one fully enclosed bedroom, a separate room enclosed by a full curtain with choice of double or two single beds and a sofa bed in the open plan living area. In addition it is on the ground floor so easily accessible and we have ensured it is easy for wheelchair bound people to use. All Barns are done up to a high quality with some nice personal touches from my wife.
Pets are welcome for which we make a small extra charge.
We have 2 22kwhr EV chargers adjacent to the barns.
Guests enjoy being in the estate, with access to our woodlands and formal gardens. A burn with waterfalls runs through the estate. For kids there is a woodland play area and dogs and their owners love it here. The public have access during the day but the estate is very quiet at night.
I run the estate with my wife Barbara and some great Rangers and gardener who look after the extensive woodlands and Gardens. It is very much a family set up. My father is chief of Clan MacMillan and for those who are interested there is a clan centre to visit.
We love dogs and children who always appreciate the space on the estate to walk and play and we welcome visitors to the estate all year round. While we are very much in a rural setting there is a great community here with several permanent residents so one is not totally alone.
We are well positioned for visiting all over the west of Scotland. Glasgow is just 20 minutes away and the ferry in Gourock to Dunoon is about the same. Loch Lomond is about 30 minutes away so you can get to some great places pretty quickly. The old shipbuilding base at Port Glasgow is being rejuvenated and now has a large Tesco, M and S and other stores about 3 miles away and there are several decent local restaurants in villages such as Langbank, Kilmalcolm and Houston.
Loch Lomond is just 30 minutes drive away and there are several world class golf course within about an hour's drive including Troon, Prestwick, Glasgow Gales, Loch Lomond and Gleneagles.
